Checkpoint Charity Cup for Starlight 2025: $116,000 Raised for Seriously Ill Children

On Saturday, 22 February 2025, the energy at AAMI Park was electric—not just for the Melbourne Derby between Victory and City, but for something even more powerful: the 5th Annual Checkpoint Charity Cup for Starlight.

Proudly hosted by Checkpoint Building Surveyors, this corporate charity soccer match once again united business leaders, football fans, and two Melbourne Victory legends for a cause that’s close to our hearts—supporting the Starlight Children’s Foundation.

Kicking Goals and Granting Wishes

This year’s event was a record-breaker, raising an incredible $116,000. That’s enough to grant 16 life-changing Starlight Wishes for seriously ill children across Australia—giving them and their families moments of joy, hope, and relief during the toughest times.

For children battling serious illness, a Starlight Wish can mean the world—it’s a chance to be a kid again, even for a day.

Captains, Competition, and Community

With former Melbourne Victory stars Leigh Broxham and Carl Valeri returning to lead their respective teams, the Charity Cup brought professional flair to a passionate and good-spirited corporate match. Played right before the Melbourne Victory vs Melbourne City Derby, it was a perfect prelude to a big night of football.

The commitment shown by every player—both on the field and in fundraising—was a testament to what can be achieved when a community comes together for a cause greater than itself.

A Legacy of Support

While the Checkpoint Charity Cup is now in its 5th year, our partnership with the Starlight Children’s Foundation spans more than a decade. Over the years, we’ve proudly raised significant funds for this incredible, non-government funded organisation that helps brighten the lives of sick kids and their families.

Thank You

To everyone who donated, played, supported, and cheered—thank you. Your generosity is helping bring light to families during their darkest moments.

Here’s to continuing this legacy of impact, and to granting even more Starlight Wishes in the years to come.
